Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced the launch of his new hospital called "Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic," which will allow customers to pay for medical services using ADA, the native token of the Cardano ecosystem.
Hoskinson announced the development a few days ago, saying the hospital would open in February 2023. However, the Cardano founder did not say whether his new medical center will accept bitcoin (BTC) and other major crypto assets such as ether (ETH).
Hoskinson shared the update in response to one of his Twitter followers asking if they could use ADA to pay bills at the newly opened clinic. The Cardano founder answered "yes".
Hoskinson Health & Wellness Clinic is located in Wyoming, US, according to the hospital's website. The hospital provides its clients with a broad range of medical services, including primary care, mental health care, women's health care, active health screening, cancer screening, dietary/nutritional medicine and cardiovascular care.
The medical facility also focuses on life extension, bio-food supplements, diet, exercise and medical care for elderly patients,
The clinic is partially open and will be fully operational next month. The hospital currently has about 10 employees and is looking to increase headcount, according to the company's LinkedIn page.
Hoskinson has recently continued to take steps to drive adoption of the ADA token. In June, the blockchain developer announced the opening of Nessie’s Restaurant and Whiskey Lounge in Wyoming, accepting ADA as a payment option.
However, the decision to make ADA a payment method was not satisfactory for some customers. It has been suggested that Hoskinson could opt for an alternative payment option based on Cardano, such as Cardano’s first decentralized stablecoin, DJED.
