Coinbase, the prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has disclosed that its "Stand with Crypto" campaign will be concentrated on nine US states, with particular emphasis on four "swing states." These four states, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, were selected because voters there were found to be less inclined to support presidential candidates who are against cryptocurrencies, according to a blog post made on September 19.
This data is derived from the 2022 Morning Consult Poll, where more than half, specifically 55%, of voters in these key states expressed reluctance to vote for a candidate who opposes cryptocurrency and Web3 technologies. The survey encompassed 800 likely voters across these states, and between 13-19% of respondents claimed ownership of cryptocurrencies at the time.
Coinbase also pointed out that over 40% of cryptocurrency owners in Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania utilize blockchain technology to send money abroad, helping their families cover expenses such as food, housing, and medical costs. This approach typically incurs significantly lower fees compared to those imposed by conventional banks for international wire transfers.
To advocate for crypto-friendly legislation in the United States, Coinbase initiated a 14-month "Pro-Crypto" campaign in August. The company's new campaign will concentrate on four swing states, as well as Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, and Wisconsin, all of which exhibit a high index of cryptocurrency ownership.
While numerous Congressional representatives are actively supporting cryptocurrency regulation and the development of the financial system, Coinbase asserts that some are dedicated to maintaining the status quo. To further their efforts, Coinbase is arranging a "Day of Support for Cryptocurrency" on September 27 in Washington , DC This event aims to promote cryptocurrency innovation and policy. The campaign will also encourage cryptocurrency supporters to contact their Congress members and demand the enactment of lucid, rational cryptocurrency legislation.
In line with these efforts, Coinbase seeks to mobilize its community to actively engage in this campaign, encouraging cryptocurrency owners and enthusiasts to take just one minute each day to contact their Congressional representatives and insist on the need for clear and pragmatic cryptocurrency legislation.
