Blockchain solutions provider Jelurida has partnered with augmented reality (AR) company Aumenta Solutions to develop a port infrastructure maintenance system.
According to an announcement sent to Cointelegraph, the project aims to increase efficiency, reduce downtime and increase the accuracy of port maintenance tasks, which are important for servicing ships, cargo and passengers. As early as 2020, a research team at the University of Girona and Aumenta Solutions collaborated to develop a blockchain-based maintenance system that combines blockchain authentication and AR to improve the traceability of maintenance operations.
Aumenta Solutions and information technology company MSI are now targeting the global port infrastructure market with the technology. According to Pere Roset, managing partner of Aumenta Solutions, their project relies on a blockchain certification program. Rosset explained: "The certification program is an important part of the program to ensure that maintenance tasks are done correctly, in the right place and at the right time." Francisco Sarrias from Jelurida also commented on the importance of AR for maintenance. Sarrias described AR as a "game changer" because it allows employees to access digital information in real time. "We are excited to introduce this new technology to the industry and help drive innovation in the maintenance process," Sarias said.
AR has been seen to be used in the Web3 space. During the recent Metaverse Fashion Week, a hybrid AR fashion show was showcased in Piazza Duomo, one of the most iconic locations in Milan, Italy. Meanwhile, whiskey producer Jack Daniels also recently created a Web3 campaign utilizing AR and Polygon-based digital collectibles. The campaign will have participants collect digital crates containing various rewards, such as gift certificates and tours of the Jack Daniels Distillery.
