The 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is set to take place in Davos, Switzerland, starting January 15. This five-day event will gather over 100 governments, key international organizations, 1,000 corporate partners, and leaders from civil society, social entrepreneurship, and the media from across the globe.
The 2024 WEF meeting’s central theme is "Rebuilding Trust," set against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tensions, shifting economic policies, and rapid advancements in technology. The meeting will concentrate on six primary areas: economic resilience, energy transition, globalization, the productive use of artificial intelligence (AI), strengthening institutions, and women's health.
While the forum traditionally addresses global economic and social issues, topics such as blockchain and cryptocurrencies have increasingly gained prominence in recent years.
For the 2024 edition, there is a notable shift in focus towards artificial intelligence and the tokenization of tangible assets. Key events include "The Tokenization Economy," a public panel on the topic of asset tokenization scheduled for January 17. This panel will explore tokenization's fundamental aspects, its applications, and its future trajectory. Among the participants are Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Circle, the company behind USD Coin (USDC), and Denelle Dixon, CEO of the Stellar Development Foundation.
Additionally, on January 18, a session named "Clear" will delve into the future of digital assets and cryptocurrencies, examining the role of regulatory bodies in fostering innovation and safeguarding consumers.
Kristina Lucrezia Cornèr of Cointelegraph will lead their team in Davos, joined by numerous influential figures from the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry, who will be attending various events throughout the conference.
