Deloitte, a prominent professional services company, has entered into a strategic alliance with cryptocurrency analysis firm Chainalysis to enhance its clients' blockchain tracking capabilities. The partnership, announced on July 25 at the Chainalysis conference in W ashton, DC, will leverage Chainalysis' blockchain datasets, analytics software, and training programs to assist Deloitte's clients in meeting their cryptocurrency forensics, investigative, and compliance requirements. The collaboration primarily targets mutual customers, such as law enforcement, regulators, and financial institutions, with initial focus on the United States.
The consortium between Deloitte and Chainalysis has been in development for years, aiming to promote broader adoption of blockchain technology across various organizations. Thomas Stanley, the President and Chief Revenue Officer of Chainalysis, highlighted the overlap in the customer base of both companies, making regulators, law enforcement, and financial institutions the primary benefits of the joint efforts. The technology will first be launched in the United States, with the possibility of other global markets following suit.
Deloitte identified several challenges faced by government agencies, including the use of cryptocurrencies for obfuscating transactions and laundering criminal proceedings, as well as difficulties in obtaining information from foreign exchange exchanges due to the international regulatory environment. The partnership with Chainalysis aims to address these issues and help identify malicious actors behind cryptocurrency transactions, ultimately facilitating effective prosecution. Deloitte plans to collaborate with Chainalysis on various aspects, such as cryptocurrency and digital asset risk analysis, investigations, anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC) procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Deloitte has shown significant interest in the cryptocurrency industry, as evidenced by the posting of over 300 cryptocurrency-related job listings, with 97 positions in the United States. Earlier this year, Deloitte also partnered with Web3 platform Vatom to provide immersive experiences across various industries , utilizing virtual reality for events, conferences, employee training, and community engagement through virtual experiences.
