The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics marked the commencement of a CBDC pilot for tourists, allowing them to conduct transactions with local merchants using e-renminbi .
Inbound tourists can reportedly register and create an RMB e-wallet using overseas mobile phone numbers and utilize the wallet recharge function. Currently, Visa and Mastercard payments are supported.
