Elon Musk, still on the hunt for a new Twitter CEO, jokingly introduced a dog as Twitter's new CEO, causing the prices of Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and Floki to skyrocket. As of press time, the three emoticons have all experienced a sharp appreciation, with DOGE up 6.1%, Shiba Inu up 4.3%, and FLOKI up 39%.
"Twitter's new CEO is awesome," Musk wrote, sharing a photo of a Shiba sitting behind a desk in a black sweater with CEO written on it. On the desk sits a contract from Twitter that reads the title “CEO,” the name “Floki,” and a signature in the form of a pawprint.
In a follow-up tweet, Musk also wrote, "Better than that guy," to which Dogecoin creator Billy Marcus replied, "I guess he's the only one crazy enough to take the job ’” Musk blinked in reply to Satoshi’s comment, writing, “He’s perfect for the job.”
Elon Musk followed up with two more tweets. The first shown is a Shiba Inu with an obvious balance sheet. “He’s good with numbers!” Musk commented. The second image shows the Twitter CEO in Steve Jobs-inspired attire, which Musk added has style. The tweets come as Elon Musk has come under increasing pressure from the mainstream media for his actions and outspoken stance on free speech. In December, Musk said he would step down as Twitter's chief executive once he found someone who could keep the platform "alive."
At the time, Musk claimed that Twitter was headed for bankruptcy and that the new CEO would face a daunting task. However, despite the decline in advertising revenue, Musk recently claimed that the company is no longer in jeopardy because it is "on track to break even." His recent tweets may suggest that Musk may have found a successor, though that's pure speculation at this point. The billionaire may use the Shiba image as a fun way to wrap up the news before the official announcement.
Whether a bias toward Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, or Floki was a prerequisite for the job can only be speculated. But it is worth noting that Musk’s tweet this time not only pushed up the price of Dogecoin, but also Shiba Inu and FLOKI.
The price increase of SHIB may be because the chief developer Masatoshi Kusama also responded to Musk’s tweet with a smiley face. Meanwhile, the name of the new CEO "Floki" is a welcome cause for meme coin community rallies.
At press time, Dogecoin was priced at $0.0859. A daily close above the 200-day moving average (blue line) could be a bullish sign.
