Blockchain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence asserts that it has identified the address associated with the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust, which comprises over 1,750 addresses holding a collective sum exceeding $16 billion in Bitcoin. This revelation was shared in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on September 6. According to Arkham, Grayscale is positioned as the “second largest BTC entity in the world.”
The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is a significant holder of Bitcoin, with assets surpassing $16 billion. The trust's issuer, Grayscale, is currently engaged in a legal battle with the SEC, aiming to transform the trust into an exchange-traded fund.
Speculation within the Bitcoin community regarding the whereabouts of Grayscale's substantial Bitcoin inventory has persisted for a considerable period. Grayscale has opted not to disclose its wallet address, citing "security concerns" as the reason. This reluctance has led some X users to criticize Grayscale, accusing the company of holding fewer bitcoins than it has claimed.
On September 9, Arkham conducted a search for “Grayscale Bitcoin Trust,” uncovering the following five addresses:

According to Arkham, the first three addresses collectively hold approximately $51 million worth of Bitcoin. The last two addresses do not contain any funds but do display transactions involving other Grayscale Bitcoin Trust addresses, including 1L8k2SD 9sdTTzdDxA19QdobLbUyKyV2RVi and 1CS1M4oVbcFnZjZ5hU5bk6vLi2Q5VSsmpX. While Arkham does not provide a comprehensive list of grayscale entities, it clearly designates each grayscale address within the transaction history of each wallet. Arkham's platform displays that Grayscale's entity possesses 627,779,000 BTC, equating to a value exceeding $16 billion. This closely aligns with the am ount declared on Grayscale's official website, indicating that It indeed holds a sufficient quantity of bitcoins to satisfy withdrawals.
Arkham Intelligence has often faced criticism for disseminating private information concerning blockchain users, leading some X users to characterize it as a "whistleblowing" platform. Nonetheless, the CEO of the platform contends that their mission is to level the playing field, offering sm all players access to information that would otherwise be exclusive to large institutions.
