CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju has made predictions regarding the spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) market, suggesting a potential recovery in the event of further declines in BTC prices. In a recent X post on March 22, Young Ju expressed optimism about the resilience of the ETF market, even amid ongoing price fluctuations in Bitcoin.
Analyzing historical net flow trends, Young Ju observed that demand for a Bitcoin ETF tends to increase when the cryptocurrency approaches certain support levels. Despite recent negative net flows in spot BTC ETFs, with outflows from the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF and reduced inflows to other BTC ETFs, Young Ju remains optimistic about potential market recovery.
According to data from analytics firm BitMEX Research, spot BTC ETFs have experienced negative net flows over the past four trading days. However, Young Ju highlighted the presence of new BTC whales, particularly ETF buyers, who have an on-chain cost basis of approximately $56,000. He anticipates a resurgence in ETF funding if Bitcoin prices approach this level.
Bitcoin's price has fluctuated between $62,000 and $68,000 in recent days, with Young Ju suggesting the possibility of further declines. Given that corrections typically result in maximum drawdowns of around 30%, Bitcoin could potentially drop from its recent all-time high of $73,750 to approximately $51,000.
The recent correction in Bitcoin prices has been attributed to market overheating, referred to as a "pre-halving correction," which occurred prior to the Bitcoin halving event in April. Despite this, a report from CryptoQuant indicates that the Bitcoin bull cycle may not yet be over, citing relatively low investment flows from new investors and price valuation metrics below levels observed during previous market peaks.
Additionally, the upcoming Bitcoin halving event has historically served as a significant driver of Bitcoin prices, often leading to a parabolic upward trend. This historical pattern suggests the potential for continued bullish momentum in the cryptocurrency market.
