Manta Network has stepped into the realm of layer 2 blockchain solutions, adding to the growing ecosystem of zero-knowledge (ZK) proof-powered platforms with the launch of Manta Pacific. This modular L2 platform is specifically designed for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) native decentralized applications (DApps) that harness ZK proof technology. Developers can benefit from plug-and-play capabilities through a software development kit and ZK libraries provided by the platform.
Manta Pacific's native EVM compatibility ensures that applications deployed on Ethereum can seamlessly operate on Manta Pacific and vice versa. Furthermore, ZK integration translates to lower gas fees and enhanced scalability, making it an attractive choice for developers seeking to optimize their DApps. Users can connect Ethereum to Manta Pacific and begin exploring its development environment. This addition to the ZK-certified L2 solutions offers Web3 developers a range of options to meet their specific needs.
Manta Network's core contributor, Kenny Li, highlighted the importance of simplifying the development process for ZK-enabled applications, emphasizing that different ZK-rollup L2 solutions have distinct value propositions. He anticipates that, in the medium to long term, the market will narrow its focus to a select few solutions dedicated to streamlining ZK application deployment. The aim is to abstract the intricacies of cryptography, much like the Web2 technology world's shift toward a plug-and-play approach.
Manta Pacific has undergone nine months of development, with its testnet launched in July 2023. During this time, the testnet has seen impressive activity, including the creation of 150,000 wallets and over 3.5 million transactions, as reported by core Manta Network contributors. The project's recent successful funding round, securing $25 million in July 2023, positions it to expand further and drive adoption, with a particular focus on Asian markets.
