MEXC, a cryptocurrency exchange, has been compelled to address speculation surrounding the removal of the account "MEXC_CEO" from X (formerly Twitter), a move that raised concerns about potential issues within the company.
On December 24, MEXC released an article aimed at clarifying the confusion sparked by the sudden deletion of the MEXC_CEO account on Twitter. Some users had presumed the account belonged to the CEO, John Chen Ju. This deletion, coupled with reports from several traders about frozen accounts dating back to December 16, and difficulties experienced by users when withdrawing cryptocurrency from the exchange, heightened worries about the exchange's stability.
However, MEXC clarified that while the account was once used officially to promote the exchange, the original CEO had resigned in July 2022. Consequently, individuals linked to the account are no longer officially associated with MEXC, severing any tangible connection. MEXC acknowledged the absence of a specific announcement during the incident, leading to the sudden deletion of the account without prior notice, leading to widespread misunderstanding and confusion.
Expressing regret for the misunderstanding caused, the exchange pledged to publicly announce any significant personnel changes involving official media accounts in the future. Simultaneously, MEXC noted facing a barrage of "misinformation and baseless claims" aimed at tarnishing the platform's reputation.
Recent days have seen several users encountering problems and delays specifically with withdrawals on X, particularly involving the Kaspa (KAS) token. Despite these reports, MEXC reassured users that the exchange is operational without issues, emphasizing that all systems are functioning normally.
The company cautioned against being misled by rumors and those with undisclosed motives, expressing strong opposition to any form of defamation or spreading of false information. In a December 24 post on X, MEXC asserted its right to pursue legal action against unfounded allegations.
