The Miss Universe Organization has disavowed any association with the Miss Universe Coin project, which was introduced at the Philippine Blockchain Week (PBW) event earlier this month. PBW has stated that it is in communication with all parties involved and intends to release an update soon .
At the PBW event, an initiative called the Miss Universe Coin was unveiled. Donald Lim, the founder of the organization overseeing PBW, announced that they would "launch a Miss Universe coin." However, following the announcement, the official Miss Universe organization has distanced itself from the coin project and labeled it as fraudulent.
On September 22, the official Miss Universe Facebook page made a statement clarifying that neither the Miss Universe organization nor JKN Global Group, the firm behind the pageant, have any affiliation with the coin presented at the PBW event. They indicated their intent to pursue legal action against this infringement. The statement emphasized that there are no Miss Universe cryptocurrency or blockchain products and that these products play no role in the voting or selection process of the Miss Universe or Miss Universe Philippines pageants.
In response to these developments, a representative from the Miss Universe Organization branded the Miss Universe coin as a "scam" and cautioned against its mention at future blockchain conferences in Dubai and Singapore, suggesting it should be disregarded.
PBW has reported that it is actively engaged with all parties related to this matter and will furnish updates in due course. Despite attempts to contact Philippines Blockchain Week, there has been no immediate response to inquiries.
