OSMOSIS Labs, The App Developer Behind The Cosmos-Based Decentralized Exchange OSMOSIS (OSMO), Has Annound the Launch OF a New Feature Called "Centrali Zed liquidity. "This feature enables liquidity providedrs (LPS) to set minimum and maximum priors at all are willing to buy or sell cryptocurrencies. Osmosis is one of the largest decentralized exchanges in the Cosmos ecosystem, with a daily trading volume of approximately $120 million, according to DefiLlama.
With the new feature, Osmosis LPs can provide liquidity with specified price ranges. If the price falls below the minimum or exceeds the maximum, they will no longer contribute liquidity. However, when the price falls within the chosen range, LPs will receive high her fees compared to not specifying any price boundaries. The announcement claims that centralized liquidity can enhance capital efficiency by 100 to 300 times, allowing for significant reduction of the liquidity pool size without causing slippage for traders.
While this feature was first introduced in Uniswap v3 and has become common in the Web3 world, it has been a relatively rare occurrence in the Cosmos ecosystem. Osmosis Labs protocol engineer Alpin Yukseloglu mentioned that their implementation goes beyond Uniswap's original version. Osmosis allows LPs to Set more precise minimum and maximum values within each price range, addressing user experience issues that arise when users cannot pinpoint the exact price point they desire.
Yukseloglu also revealed that Osmosis has plans to introduce a full-fledged on-chain order book in the future. This feature is currently in the implementation-level specification stage, but the team has not yet announced a specific timeline for its completion. Osmosis Labs aims to provide liquidity providers with more choices, and both centralized liquidity and order books are part of their broader goal.
In a related development, cryptocurrency futures exchange dYdX is also working on an on-chain order book as it migrates to the Cosmos ecosystem. Osmosis co-founder Sunny Aggarwal has previously expressed his confidence in the security of the Cosmos Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC ) protocol, calling it the "most secure bridging protocol in existence." However, in October, a critical vulnerability in IBC was discovered and promptly fixed the following day, highlighting the importance of ongoing security measures in the ecosystem.
