Pixel, one of the prominent Web3 games, has amassed a significant daily active user base and swiftly garnered an impressive valuation of nearly $3 billion following its listing on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
As of the latest update, the PIXEL token is trading at $0.5385, marking an astounding surge of 1,246% from its listing price of $0.04 on February 19. Presently, the project boasts a diluted market capitalization of $2.65 billion. Last September, Pixel made headlines by transitioning from Polygon to Sky Mavis' Ronin Web3 gaming blockchain, citing the latter's dedicated gaming community as a driving factor.
Data from DappRadar indicates a notable increase in user engagement, with 531,850 wallets actively participating in the social game, marking a significant 47.9% surge in the past 30 days. Pixels stands out as a casual adventure game that offers players opportunities to farm, explore, own land, and engage with non-fungible tokens (NFTs) within a vibrant community. However, the game encountered challenges as its in-game token, Berry, struggled to keep pace with the surge in Pixel tokens, resulting in a decline in the game's transaction value.
Following a major setback due to a hack in 2022, the Ronin blockchain has experienced a resurgence in its token value this year, reclaiming its pre-hack highs. Simultaneously, the total value locked in the blockchain has rebounded to $214 million, with a significant portion of the trading volume attributed to the native decentralized exchange Katana.
Despite the setbacks faced, the Ronin (RON) token faced a swift listing on Binance on February 5. However, insiders' actions of hoarding and subsequent sell-offs post-listing led to a decline in its price. In response to the incident, He Yi, the spouse of Binance co-founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao, emphasized the implementation of stricter internal controls and the separation of the listing and project research teams to mitigate information leakage.
Sky Mavis co-founder Aleksander Larsen shared insights in an interview, highlighting Ronin's pivotal role in integrating Web3 games gaining traction into Mavis Hub, the protocol’s game management platform akin to Steam. Larsen envisions the launch of 16 blockchain games on Ronin throughout the year, underscoring the platform's potential for fostering innovation in the gaming sector.
