Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and prominent crypto advocate has filed documents indicating his intention to run for President of the United States in 2024.
He will join former US President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis among others - another bitcoin Advocate - Fighting to win the Republican presidential nomination.
Suarez formally filed the papers on June 14, according to documents released by the US Federal Election Commission. Suarez is scheduled to speak on June 16 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, where he is expected to talk more deeply about his plans for the presidency.
In June 2022, Suarez stated that Bitcoin could become a global currency and accepted his past salary paid in Bitcoin. Suarez also participated in the "MiamiCoin" program in January 2022, through which Miami residents can purchase cryptocurrencies through digital wallets and receive bitcoin bonuses.
