Overdare, a company focusing on the metaverse, has revealed a partnership with Circle, the publisher of USD Coin (USDC), aimed at integrating Web3 wallets and USDC payments within its gaming ecosystem for content creators.
Circle made the announcement of its strategic collaboration with Overdare on February 26, highlighting the intent to streamline cryptocurrency payments for gaming content creators. Through this partnership, Overdare will leverage Circle's programmable wallet service to introduce in-game wallets, facilitating USDC spending on game-related content. Consequently, content creators will have the ability to receive stablecoins in exchange for their contributions to the gaming platform.
As a non-fungible token (NFT)-powered metaverse game, Overdare is a collaborative effort between software firm Naver Z and video game publisher Krafton, renowned for the blockbuster battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG). The project, unveiled on September 15, 2023, is designed as a Roblox-like mobile game developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Beyond the introduction of the wallet feature, Circle underlined that the integration of USDC stablecoin within the metaverse will offer creators an alternative method for settling transactions and generating revenue. Metaverse perceives this integration as an opportunity to assist game creators in transitioning from Web2 platforms to the Web3 space. Overdare CEO Henry Park expressed enthusiasm for collaborating with Circle, commending the stablecoin issuer for its regulatory adherence and assuring creators of reliable revenue access through this partnership.
Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, expressed confidence that the collaboration will shape the future landscape of digital entertainment, fostering a conducive Web3 environment for all stakeholders. Allaire underscored Circle's commitment to supporting Overdare by providing Web3 wallet functionality and USDC payment support, thereby fortifying the creator economy within the gaming ecosystem.
Amidst growing interest in blockchain gaming tokens, Overdare's latest development coincides with the heightened attention surrounding crypto assets in the gaming realm. Notably, on February 22, the crypto token associated with Web3 game Pixel witnessed a valuation of nearly $2.7 billion subsequent to its listing on the cryptocurrency exchange Binance. During this period, the PIXEL token surged to a peak of $0.53, marking a significant increase from its initial listing price of $0.04.
