Horizon, a blockchain gaming platform, has joined forces with Google Cloud to offer its comprehensive Web3 game development kit to cloud users. The collaboration aims to streamline the utilization of web3 build tools for developers by leveraging Google's widely adopted cloud computing platform.
Established in 2019 with a $2.75 million seed round, Horizon Blockchain Games has gained traction, securing $53.3 million across four funding rounds, including its Series A round in 2022. The company's success is attributed to its NFT/trading card game "Skyweaver" and its robust technology stack. Sequence, a comprehensive full-stack Web3 developer platform, encompasses various tools ranging from wallets and smart contract management to analytics and Unity, Unreal, Web, and Mobile Device plug-ins.
Through the partnership with Google Cloud, Sequence's development platform will be fully integrated, offering a seamless experience for developers. Jack Buser, director of strategic industrial games at Google Cloud, emphasized that Sequence simplifies the game creation process by alleviating the complexity of Web3 technology. This integration ensures a smooth and enjoyable experience for both developers and players, allowing developers to focus on crafting exceptional gameplay.
Greg Canessa, President and COO of Sequence, reiterated the platform's overarching goal of empowering developers to concentrate on creating outstanding games without grappling with the intricacies of Web3. Canessa highlighted that the complexity of building blockchain infrastructure often hampers the creative process, leading to subpar gaming experiences. By integrating Web3 seamlessly, Sequence aims to make the process as straightforward as setting up a game server, aligning perfectly with Google Cloud's philosophy of simplicity and efficiency.
