On March 17th, a series of events erupted on the official Shiba Inu Discord when a top community member, Steve, claimed that the Shibarium layer-2 beta testnet and the existing blockchain Rinia testnet had the same chain ID.
"So why shibarium testnet looks like it has adopted the rinia testnet genesis file, changed the name from renia but forgot to change the chain id rinia has been running since february and has that chain id. and planning to do so in december."
Steve also claims that "there's no way to take it over without shytoshi and kaal [the Shiba Inu developers] specifically communicating with him and asking him to reboot (trick him) so they can take his genesis files and steal his work. To which Carl responded:
"Since our alpha network deployment, to clear up some FUD, randomly pick a few chain IDs - 417 (Alpha), 517 (Staging), 917 (pre-pod/beta) that weren't anywhere at the time Registration, I made a mistake not rechecking when starting the puppynet network." Kaal then stated that, “without any punches and kicks,” a new version of the Shibraium beta network with a new chain ID would be deployed. However, as events intensified later in the day, Steve raised another concern, this time comparing two screenshots to show the alleged similarities between the Shibarium alpha testnet and Polygon’s Mumbai testnet: "Shibarium GitHub shows that the shibarium alpha test is just a 100% copy of the Mumbai polygon."
At the time of publication, Shiba Inu It is down 4.65% over the past 24 hours and is trading at $0.00001047. Cointelegraph has not independently verified the allegations or responses made by the Shiba community.
