On May 23, the Solana Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and developing the layer-1 Solana blockchain, announced that it has integrated artificial intelligence (AI) using the ChatGPT plugin developed by Solana Labs.
The ChatGPT plugin, available for download from GitHub, will “make it easier to understand Solana data and protocols, or superficial data about Solana computing infrastructure and DeFi projects,” according to the developers.
Current functionality of the plugin includes buying non-fungible tokens (NFTs), transferring tokens, checking transactions, interpreting public account data, and finding NFT collectibles by reserve price on Solana. Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, said: "E very developer Building consumer-facing applications should consider how AI models interact with their applications, because this is a new paradigm for telling computers what to do."
The Solana Foundation also announced that it will increase its grant to explore the intersection of the Solana blockchain and artificial intelligence from an initial $1 million to $10 million. The developer said 50 applications had been received for the rolling grant scheme. Additionally, the Solana Foundation has launched a three-month undergraduate accelerator program, a full blockchain and artificial intelligence pilot group. "The program has received hundreds of applications from projects and contributors, and the AI queue has already spawned an Ask Solana U chatbot," the de developers wrote.
Within its ecosystem, Hivemapper launched AI Trainers last month, which convert real-world imagery into high-quality digital maps with details on speed limits, warning signs and other street-related information. Since then, Solana developers claim that protocol contributors have initiated 5.7 million AI training reviews, with 500,000 objects reaching consensus.
