Square Enix, the renowned Japanese tech giant behind iconic game franchises like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, has embarked on a partnership with the Web3 gaming platform HyperPlay since March 19. This collaboration entails an undisclosed investment from Square Enix to fuel the expansion of the HyperPlay game store, as outlined in a recent press release.
As part of the partnership, Square Enix will introduce "SYMBIOGENESIS," an art experience based on MetaMask that revolves around digital asset ownership, onto the HyperPlay storefront. The investment and partnership align with Square Enix's strategic focus on modernizing its organizational structure to embrace emerging technologies like blockchain, Web3, and artificial intelligence (AI). HyperPlay founder JacobC.eth emphasized the significance of the investment in advancing the platform's mission of disrupting the gaming industry, particularly by addressing legacy distribution platform challenges and enabling new business models.
JacobC.eth highlighted HyperPlay's commitment to expanding its Web3-native game distribution platform, with plans to aggregate more game stores, expand platform reach, and enhance distribution channels to attract a wider player base. The CEO teased upcoming feature releases and announcements, hinting at HyperPlay's continuous evolution and innovation in the near future.
In addition to platform expansion, HyperPlay disclosed plans for integrating with Amazon in the second quarter of 2024 to onboard Prime users into its ecosystem.
