Renowned Hong Kong filmmaker Stephen Chow, famous for his classic "Kung Fu" movie, recently introduced a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) called "Nobody." Launched earlier this month, the collection has garnered significant attention, witnessing over 9,695 Ethereum ($23 million) in trading volume, with a daily average of 2,713 Ethereum.
In a notable move, Chow updated his profile pictures on X and Instagram to reflect Nobody's avatar, signaling his active involvement in the NFT project. He engaged with fans by seeking suggestions for community activities related to Nobody and encouraged them to adopt the same avatar. Additionally, Chow expressed plans to develop Nobody as an intellectual property (IP), leveraging his past success and introducing innovative mechanisms to overcome Web3 adoption barriers.
Teaming up with cryptocurrency exchange OKX on January 10, Chow initiated a Nobody NFT whitelist giveaway, attracting more than 125,000 participants vying for 2,500 available NFTs. The total supply of Nobody NFTs is limited to 10,000 units, offering holders special privileges such as proposal participation, co-creation opportunities, voting rights, and involvement in Nobody IP development.
The genesis of the Nobody series dates back to December 6, 2023, when Chow announced his collaboration with Chinese-American rapper Ouyang Jin, also known as MC Jin, to bring Nobody NFTs to life. The launch occurred on Moonbox, a Hong Kong-based startup specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) and Web3 initiatives focused on art and film industries. Chow's partnership with Moonbox marks the platform's inaugural venture into content creation, following its successful financing round led by OKX Ventures in August 2023, which valued the company at $50 million.
