Trezor, a prominent hardware cryptocurrency wallet provider, is marking its 10th anniversary with the introduction of three new self-hosted products. These offerings include the Trezor Safe 3 wallet, a proprietary solution for private key backups, and a Bitcoin-only wallet. Trezor, based in the Czech Republic, officially announced these new products on October 12, underlining that the Trezor Safe 3 wallet's launch is a significant milestone in the company's ongoing mission to provide user-friendly hardware wallets.
The Trezor Safe 3 wallet supports over 7,000 cryptocurrencies, and it retails for $79. It is available in four colors: Solar Gold, Stellar Silver, Galaxy Rose, and Cosmic Gold Black. Trezor maintains its commitment to open-source development with this device, leveraging open-source principles even in the deployment of security components. They have chosen a third-party secure element vendor, allowing for the publication of any discovered vulnerabilities.
In addition to the Trezor Safe 3 wallet, the company has unveiled its physical private key storage solution, Trezor Keep Metal. The security of mnemonic phrases or private keys is paramount as it enables users to regain access to their wallets in case the hardware wallet is lost or damaged. Trezor Keep Metal offers a corrosion-resistant stainless steel design with a watertight seal, ensuring that data recovery remains secure from fire, water, acid, and shock in any condition. It retails for $99 and accommodates both 12-word and 24-word standard backups. A variant supporting three 20-word Shamir backups is available for $249.
Additionally, to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Trezor has launched a Bitcoin-exclusive hardware wallet, limited to 2,013 devices. The company will donate $21 from each sale to support the Trezor Academy, an educational initiative focused on Bitcoin. Trezor, founded in 2013, is among the world's leading hardware wallet providers. They offer users a secure means of storing cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, with their first wallet, the Trezor One, released in 2014 and still available, providing basic functionality for the long-term storage of various digital assets.
