On July 20, Crypto Twitter users were quick to identify and warn others about a scam involving the stolen account of Uniswap founder Hayden Adams. The "Web3 Security Alert" channel on Telegram alerted fans that Adams' Twitter account had been compromised. Scammers attempting to defraud users of their cryptocurrencies or fiat currency through social media platforms is not new. In response to this ongoing issue, Twitter executive chairman Elon Musk announced on July 1 that the platform would temporarily limit the number of posts users can read daily to tackle bots and other malicious actors. Despite efforts to combat scams, the rise of new platforms like Meta's Threads, a microblogging app competing with Twitter, has brought its own challenges. Within days of its launch and Gaining over 100 million users, scammers have already appeared, promoting fake non-fungible token projects and impersonating crypto Twitter personalities.
