Uniswap Labs has made its Android mobile wallet application, equipped with built-in exchange functionality, publicly available on the Google Play Store. According to Callil Capuozzo, Uniswap Labs' vice president of design, this newly launched app enables users to conduct decentralized exchanges (DEX) directly within the app, eliminating the necessity for a separate web browser extension.
While the app was initially released in closed beta on October 12, its availability on the Google Play Store marks the first time the Android version is accessible to the general public. The iOS counterpart was introduced in April. Uniswap currently boasts over $3 billion worth of cryptocurrency locked in its contracts. The decentralized exchange (DEX) is created by Uniswap Labs and managed by the Uniswap Decentralized Autonomous Organization, UniswapDAO.
Capuozzo highlighted adjustments made in response to user feedback, particularly in enhancing the visibility and usability of wallet addresses within the app to simplify the process of copying and pasting addresses.
Moreover, Uniswap has expanded language support, now accommodating English, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, French, and both traditional and simplified Chinese. Additionally, a new setting has been incorporated, enabling users to view their cryptocurrency holdings in their local currency values. Capuozzo expressed that the Android version of Uniswap's app has been one of the most highly requested projects by users, and there is anticipation for substantial demand.
"We constantly receive inquiries from Twitter and the community – they always inquire about the arrival of the Android version," mentioned Capuozzo. He stressed the team's openness to further suggestions from users to continue refining and improving the application.
