Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, hopes that Zcash, a privacy token, and Dogecoin, a popular meme coin, will migrate to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism.
When Ryan Selkis asked Buterin at Messari Mainnet 2022 about whether all networks should switch to PoS, Buterin answered in this way.
Zooko Wilcox-O'Hearn, the founder of Zcash, was also present at the event.
The two provided answers to the questions as Selkis, who served as the moderator, delving deeper into various aspects of blockchain technology.
Not the first time
It's not the first time Buterin has encouraged Zcash to migrate to Proof of Stake. In 2018, when he made the same claim, Zooko replied that he was waiting for Ethereum to make the move first so he could see what goes wrong.
For Dogecoin, it was reported that Vitalik was working with the Dogecoin foundation to migrate it from PoW to PoS , but there is no specific date for it.
Zcash wants a bigger role
In view of Tornado Cash's impending cracked down, Zooko spoke about the role Zcash will play in the upcoming months, particularly with regard to privacy.
He said that Zcash already has the technology layer and the culture of privacy which will make a difference.
