The report, titled "Web3 Growth Prospects to 2023, " highlights that the 2010s were considered the "golden age of digital marketing," witnessing a significant growth in marketing firms from 150 in 2011 to 11,000 in 2023 as Web2 flourished.
In recent years, the digital marketing landscape has shifted towards a more privacy-centric environment, prompting marketers to reconsider their tactics and embrace the Web3 technology stack. The report reveals that around 200 companies are actively exploring the new digital media landscape, with 71 of them securing a total of $600 million in funding. Among the most well-funded categories are messaging, inquiries, and loyalty platforms, with each attracting more than $100 million in funding.
Quest platforms like Yield Guide Games are creating engagement marketplaces that incentivize users with offers, fostering a more direct brand-user relationship compared to traditional advertising. Loyalty companies are also helping brands enhance customer value and retention through re wards programs backed by NFTs and tokens.
For marketers, there are several Web3 analytics tools available, such as Nansen and Dune, which aggregate on-chain, platform, and social data to provide growth insights for the Web3 community. Additionally, discovery platforms like DappRadar have the potential to become sign important players in Web3 advertising real estate, particularly if they invest in long-term strategies such as SEO. The report cites CoinMarketCap as an example of one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the Internet.
The Web3 growth landscape also includes 18 Web3 growth agencies that advise and deploy growth strategies on behalf of blockchain projects. This year, the marketing industry has recorded a total of 11,038 marketing solutions and services, marking an 11% increase from 2022's figure of 9,932.
As Web3 continues to develop and expand, marketers need to stay abreast of the latest trends and opportunities. The report highlights that numerous startups are already capitalizing on the potential of the Web3 ecosystem, indicating a growing interest and recognition of its potential in the digit al marketing sphere.
