World Mobile, a decentralized wireless (DeWi) network operator, has unveiled its app on Google Play, making it accessible to users in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and Tanzania as of August 22. This launch comes after successful beta testing in regions such as Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Zanzibar – markets typically underserved in terms of mobile connectivity and usability.
World Mobile's DeWi service intends to bridge the gap between major telecommunications companies and underserved markets by offering connectivity services and utilizing a blockchain-based sharing system. The proprietary token, World Mobile Token (WMT), along with other Cardano-based tok ens, forms the foundation of this sharing system. To cater to users, the company employs a combination of established infrastructure and innovative technological solutions. This includes utilizing "TV white space," repurposing unused TV broadcast spectrum for data transmission, and adapting SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service for mobile users.
The app's Google Play launch will provide users with the latest version; however, certain functions might be limited due to differing regulatory frameworks in various countries, according to World Mobile. While offering exciting features, not all functionalities may be universally available due to geographical restrictions .
World Mobile has also revealed a collaboration with SingularityNET, an artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics company. The partnership's focus involves jointly developing and managing customer service solutions for the World Mobile platform. Additionally, both companies plan to explore AI and blockchain-based loans and credit approval services that can adapt to users' payment history and reputation, providing innovative financial solutions to underserved markets.
