What is Helium?
Helium (HNT) is a decentralized blockchain-powered network for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Launched in July 2019, the Helium mainnet allows low-powered wireless devices to communicate with each other and send data across its network of nodes. Nodes come in the form of so-called Hotspots, which are a combination of a wireless gateway and a blockchain mining device. Users who operate nodes thus mine and earn rewards in Helium’s native cryptocurrencytoken, HNT.
What is Helium’s goal?
Helium’s goal is to prepare IoT communication for the future, identifying inadequacies in current infrastructure from its birth in 2013.
What is Helium’s Vision?
Helium is building a open-source, decentralised model of building wireless infrastructure. By deploying a network of nodes in the community, Helium is able to provide coverage for smart use cases such as agriculture, smart city, logistics and supply chain, water and environment monitoring.
How many HNT are there?
The total HNT supply is 223,000,000 tokens. There would not be additional minting of HNT tokens in the future.
What does HNT serve in the ecosystem?
Users could use HNT tokens to generate Data Credits to pay for transaction fees on the Helium network. Data Credits are also used to send sensor data and determine the Hotspot location.
How to mine HNT？
HNT could not be mine as they are using Proof of Coverage (POC). Instead, you would need to deploy hotspots that support LoRaWan technology to provide support and coverage for the Helium network. POC providers would earn their reward based on their contribution.
Where to store HNT?
Helium (HNT) is based on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) network, therefore, you would need to set up a wallet that supports the BSC network protocol. However the best wallet would be Helium’s official waller, Helium Wallet App. It is available on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Helium Wallet does also provide Command Line Interface wallet for advanced users.
