The much anticipated Merge, according to Ethereum developer Tim Beiko, will actually happen between August and November, and only a catastrophic event or failure will prevent it from happening this year.
When will the merging happen?
The Merge was supposed to happen in June, but developers moved it up. Since then, discussions have taken place on the possible timing of the Merge. Some developers feel that there is already too much pressure to make it happen, though.
Although there have been delays, the procedure leading up to the Merge is proceeding according to plan. On June 8, 2022, the Ropsten testnet, one of Ethereum's most important testnets, successfully completed its Merge.
This came after the beacon chain's May 30 launch. The possibility of the merge is getting closer with the successful Merge of the Ropsten testnet, which has many similarities to the Ethereum mainnet.
Beiko claims that the Goerli testnet merge will come next and serve as a test run for the mainnet Merge.
Despite the fact that many people are optimistic the Merge will actually happen this year, some people think all these delays are a sign that it might not.
