Binance Smart Chain (BSC) was later renamed to BNB Smart Chain (still BSC) as a way to separate the blockchain from the main exchange. So how can I add BNB contract address to MetaMask and whether BNB is BEP20 or BEP2. Let’s find out by reading the article below.

Is MetaMask compatible with Binance Smart Chain?

It is primarily used to communicate with the Ethereum blockchain, but you can also connect MetaMask to the Binance Smart Chain network, which will allow you to trade BNB through MetaMask. In addition to this trade, BNB can also be exchanged for other tokens on decentralized exchanges.

How can I add BNB contract address to Metamask?

Connect Metamask to Binance Smart Chain

1. Click the profile icon in the upper right corner of the page.

2. Click Settings at the bottom of the menu.

3. On the left menu, tap or click Network.

4. Click Add Network in the upper right corner of the screen.

5. Here, you need to manually enter the Binance Smart Chain network information. Smart Chain, Testnet and Mainnet have two available networks. You will want to use the mainnet as your main BNB smart chain network, but you can create both if you want. The parameters you need to enter for each network are as follows:

Main network

Network name: Smart Chain

New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

Chain number: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block browser URL: https://bscscan.com

Testnet

Network name: Smart Chain - Testnet

New RPC URL: https://data-seed-prebsc-1-s1.binance.org:8545/

Chain number: 97

Symbol: BNB

Block browser URL: https://testnet.bscscan.com

6. Once complete, your Metamask is ready to accept the BNB Smart Chain currency.

Convert BNB to BNB Smart Chain in your Trust Wallet

1. Open your Trust Wallet application. If you don't have it installed, you can download it from the Trust Wallet Page.

2. On the Trust Wallet homepage, under Tokens, find the BNB icon and click on it.

3. Tap the exchange icon in the upper part of the screen.

4. On the pop-up menu, click Swap to Smart Chain.

5. Tap the space to the left of the BNB icon to bring up the number pad.

6. Enter the amount of BNB you want to swap.

7. When done, click Exchange. Note that if you happen to have 1 BNB, entering 1 BNB to exchange may result in a message that you don't have enough currency to cover the fee. If this happens, enter a number, such as 0.99 or 0.95. Fees fluctuate based on demand and can be between $0 and $5.

Transfer Smart Chain to Metamask Wallet

1. Open your Metamask application.

2. Tap the three dots below your profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

3. Click Account Details in the drop-down menu. Under the generated QR code, tap the numeric code given and select Copy.

4. Open trust wallet.

5. Click on the BNB Smart Chain icon.

6. Click Send at the top of the screen.

7. Next to To address, click Paste.

8. In the BNB Amount section, enter the amount of BNB you want to transfer and click Done.

9. Click to continue.

10. The transaction details will be displayed. If everything is correct, click Confirm.

11. The transfer should be reflected on Metamask shortly. If you haven't already, try refreshing the page.

12. Your BNB should now be in Metamask.

Is BNB BEP20 or BEP2?

Binance Chain’s native token standard is BEP2, and Binance Smart Chain’s native token standard is BEP-20. Binance’s native currency, BNB, is a BEP2 token.

I hope this article will help you to learn how can I add BNB contract address to MetaMask and whether BNB is BEP20 or BEP2. MetaMask has become the standard entry point into the vast Ethereum ecosystem. However, anyone can easily set it up to point to the BNB Smart Chain. As such, they may benefit from years of work creating MetaMask, a must-have tool for anyone using dApps.
