The largest bank in the United States by assets is JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM), a global financial services holding company. So, how did JP Morgan make his money?

Consumer banking, investment banking, commercial banking, and asset management are among the services the business offers to people, businesses, institutions, and governments all over the world.

Based in New York City JPMorgan competes internationally against a wide range of financial institutions, including Bank of America Corp. (BAC), Citigroup Inc. (C), Morgan Stanley (MS), Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC), and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS), as well as hedge funds, commodity trading companies, private equity firms, insurance companies, and investment managers.

How Did JP Morgan Make His Money?

Consumers, small businesses, major corporations, governments, and other clients can get financial services from JPMorgan. The company's Consumer & Community Banking section generates the most revenue. The largest contributor to net profits is the Corporate & Investment Bank busin ess. JPMorgan has agreed to Buy a stake in Viva Wallet, a European fintech business that specializes in cloud-based payments.

Consumer & Community Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Asset & Wealth Management, and Corporate make up the business categories that JPMorgan uses to categorize its revenue and net income. The section breakdown is done on a non-GAAP basis, unlike J PMorgan's overall financial figures. In Q4 of FY 2021, non-GAAP revenue totaled $30.3 billion, or about $1.1 billion more than GAAP sales. The combined non-GAAP and GAAP net income for the quarter was $10.4 billion.

The Consumer & Community Banking division of JPMorgan offers both individuals and companies a range of services, including deposit and investment products, cash management, payment options, mortgage origination and servicing, credit card issuance, and auto loans. In Q4 FY 202 1, the segment's net income was $4.2 billion, which was 2.3% less than it was in the same period the previous year. The segment's revenue was $12.3 billion, a 3.6% year-over-year decline. About 37% of overall net income and 40% of total non-GAAP revenue are attributable to the segment.

To clients including small enterprises, mid sized and large corporations, and local governments, JPMorgan's Commercial Banking segment provides complete financial solutions, including lending, payments, investment banking, and asset management products. In Q4 FY 2 021, the segment reported net income of $1.3 billion, a 38.5% decrease from the corresponding quarter and around 11% of the total. The segment's sales increased by 6.0% to $2.6 billion, accounting for over 8% of all non-GAAP revenue.

Is JPMorgan In Crypto?

According to a source with knowledge of the matter, JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM.N) is severing relations with Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange established by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.

The choice was made a few days after Silvergate Capital Corp (SI.N), one of the most significant lenders in the digital asset sector, issued a warning about questions about its capacity to operate as a going concern, sparking a collapse in the cryptocurrency markets. Gemini stated in a tweet that its connection to the bank is still strong. JPMorgan chose not to respond.

Conclusion

How did JP Morgan make his money? The largest contributor to net profits is the Corporate & Investment Bank business.
