According to that number, having a yearly salary of at least $500,000 would make you wealthy. The top 1 % and top 5% are determined by the Economic Policy Institute using a different baseline. If you make $819,324 or more annually as of 2021, you are in the top 1% of earners. The top 5% of earners earn $335,891 annually.
