Over the past year, the cryptocurrency markets have seen significant transformation, with both the NFT and cryptocurrency sectors experiencing exponential growth. So, how many NFT projects are there in 2022?
It's getting tougher and harder for experienced investors to sort through all the projects and locate worthwhile assets to invest in as cryptocurrency investment gains popularity and the number of alternatives multiplies quickly.
And growth is only anticipated to continue. The number of cryptocurrencies has significantly increased, from 6241 in 2016 to a staggering 20949 in 2021, according to CoinMarketCap.
However, according to data from AugustaFreePress, there are barely 10,000 cryptocurrencies in existence.
Averaging over a thousand new cryptocurrencies entering the market per month, the new study shows that the number of cryptocurrencies increased steadily from 6,000 in July 2021 to nearly 10,400 crypto assets in February 2022.
The number of cryptocurrencies did, however, drop to about 10,000 in August 2022, the first drop in the number of cryptocurrencies in years.
The bear market circumstances were a major factor in the decline in the number of crypto assets.
In fact, during these crises, investors become more wary of scams, which causes investment funds to dry up. As a result, new projects fail even before they are launched, and crooks become less willing to introduce new crypto scam tokens.
Daily, a large number of websites and YouTube channels publish thorough tutorials for blockchain development.
Anyone with even little programming knowledge may clone an existing token's code, alter a few variables, and deploy it on a blockchain like BSC thanks to this trend's ease of use and accessibility for creating new tokens (Binance Smart Chain).
This makes determining the precise amount of cryptocurrency incredibly difficult.
Furthermore, many cryptocurrencies are ultimately abandoned by their developers as a result of the numerous scams and dirty tricks in the cryptocurrency industry. Even with little to no trading activity, these digital assets are still listed on CoinMarketCap after being abandoned.
