Since Bitcoin isn't distributed equally among addresses, it can be difficult to estimate the amount of Bitcoin you need to own in order to rank in the top 1% of holders. The top 1% of Bitcoin holders globally are known as the "Bitcoin 1% club.". So let’s find out how many people own 1% bitcoin in the world.

Given that Bitcoin isn't distributed equally among addresses and that a lot of bitcoin has been lost, it can be challenging to calculate the amount of BTC required to join the 1% club. The threshold has been estimated to be between 0.28 and 15 bitcoins.

The price of Bitcoin has increased significantly and quickly since its launch little over ten years ago, making it one of the best-performing assets in recent years. Owners of cryptocurrencies are naturally curious about how much of the cryptocurrency you need to have in order to be regarded as a significant holder. Are Bitcoin millionaires required?

The "1% Club," which refers to a member of the top 1% of Bitcoin owners globally, can be used as a benchmark for evaluating this. Of course, it can be difficult to define just what it entails. The amounts mentioned range from 0.28 Bitcoin to 15 Bitcoin.

Jake Levison, a former Blockworks Group analyst, tweeted in February 2020 that if you own 0.28 Bitcoin, you "are statistically certain to be among the richest 1% of the world in BTC terms."

According to Levison, just 1% of the world's population will ever be able to own more than you if you possess 0.28 BTC. According to a tweet from former Google product director Steve Lee in 2018, the reasoning behind the number is that you get 0.28 if you divide Bitcoin's 21 million hard cap by one percent of the 7.5 billion people who were on Earth at the time.

That obviously ignores the fact that not all 21 million Bitcoin have yet been mined, that there are millions of lost Bitcoin that distort the number, and that Bitcoin isn't distributed uniformly among addresses.

It's actually quite difficult to determine how much Bitcoin you would need to join the elite of the cryptocurrency world because different studies use different assumptions and because there is no accurate or transparent way to determine who owns particular addresses.

Who is in the Bitcoin 1% club today?

It is quite difficult to pinpoint precisely who is currently a member of the Bitcoin 1% club and how much of that 1% they are eligible to collect.

Regarding argument's sake, it might also be theoretically feasible for one particular address to own 1% of all the Bitcoin in circulation in addition to falling into any of the categories mentioned above. However, this would only be feasible if the Bitcoin balance range's highest point was sufficient to generate such a sizable portion of the total Bitcoin.

It goes without saying that the top group, which has a range between 0 and 0.001, is now impossible.

Does it matter how many members there are in the 1% club for Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is required to join the 1% club, which requires some estimation. No matter where you fall on these calculations, the significance of belonging to this club is mostly dependent on Bitcoin's price at the time.

We might anticipate a few more Bitcoin owners to boast about their membership in the select club if Bitcoin keeps moving upward during its current unheard-of bull run. However, it could be best for them to remain silent for the sake of their own safety.
