For years to come, the fast and severe collapse of FTX in late 2022 have affected the global crypto community. So, how much did FTX lose? We will talk about SBF and FTX here.

About FTX's Downfall

The demise of FTX happened over a 10-day span in November 2022. The turning point came on November 2, when the cryptocurrency news outlet CoinDesk broke the story that Bankman-Fried's quantitative trading company, Alameda Research, had a $5 billion position in FTT , the FTX native token.

According to the study, Alameda's investment foundation used FTT, a token created by its sister firm, rather than fiat money or another type of cryptocurrency. That raised questions about Bankman-Fried's enterprises' unreported leverage and solvency th around the cryptocurrency sector.

How Much Did FTX Lose?

The following day, FTX was going through a liquidity crisis. Bankman-Fried made an effort to reassure FTX investors that their assets were secure, but in the days following the CoinDesk revelation, consumers demanded withdrawals totaling $6 billion. Before moving to rival Binance, Bankman-Fried first looked for further funding from venture capitalists. In just two days, the price of FTT dropped by more than 80%.

The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, effectively bailed out its close rival by purchasing the non-US business of FTX for an undisclosed sum on Nov. 8 when it stated that it had struck a non-binding agreement to do so. Therefore, how much did FTX lose?

The bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX claims to have located a $8.9 billion gap in customer cash that it is unable to account for. This is the first time the firm has determined exactly how much money has vanished.

What Happens Next To Sam Bankman-Fried?

On October 2, 2023, Bankman-Fried is scheduled to stand trial on eight criminal counts. On Dec. 22, 2022, a federal judge made the decision to free Bankman-Fried from detention during a hearing after his attorneys and federal prosecutors ag reed to the largest-ever $250 million bond. He will wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, be restricted to the Northern California region, and reside with his parents, who are law professors, in Palo Alto, California. Bankman-Fried entered a not guilty plea to all counts on January 3, 2023 in a federal court in New York.

Final Thoughts

How much did FTX lose? The cryptocurrency exchange FTX crashed over the course of 10 days in November 2022. It is yet unclear what the collapse will mean for FTX's future and how it will affect the larger cryptocurrency market.
