PayPal users can now use NFC technology to spend their balances in stores, and merchants can easily start accepting PayPal in their stores. So, how to pay with PayPal at store? And, yes, you can pay with PayPal at grocery stores. Let’s walk through its procedure here.

PayPal is synonymous with peer-to-peer payments and consumer digital wallets. PayPal users can now use near field communication (NFC) technology to spend their balances in physical stores.

How To Pay With PayPal At Store?

If you have a PayPal balance and want to spend it in a physical store, you have three options: NFC-based payment with your Android phone, a PayPal-issued card (of which there are several options), and scanning to pay QR codes at various locations.

How To Pay With PayPal At Store: NFC payment

PayPal does not currently support NFC payments from within the app. Instead, PayPal has chosen to collaborate with Google in order to allow Android phone users to connect PayPal to their Google Pay accounts and even make it the default payment option.

On an Android device, follow these steps to link PayPal to your Google Pay account:

Step 1: Navigate to the payment methods page.

Open the Google Pay app and navigate to "Payment methods."

Step 2: Include a payment method.

Select "Add payment method."

Step 3: Integrate PayPal

Choose PayPal from the list of options.

Step 4: Finish the process by entering your PayPal email address.

When prompted, enter your PayPal email address (though it may autofill). Then, click "Allow" to confirm your information and "Accept" to complete the PayPal account addition process. It's that simple!

How To Pay With PayPal At Store: PayPal-issued card

Depending on the type of account you have, PayPal offers Mastercard-backed debit cards for both business and personal users. There's even a prepaid card for consumers that allows you to load your PayPal balance in set increments, among other benefits. These cards are linked to your PayPal balance and even allow you to withdraw cash from ATMs without incurring any fees from PayPal (non-MoneyPass ATMs will still charge a fee, though).

If you have one of these cards, you can also use your PayPal smartphone app at the register to add money to your balance at participating retailers (the following link lets you search for a supported store near you). When you do this, however, you will be charged a service fee of up to $3.95.

How To Pay With PayPal At Store: QR codes

Merchants, on the other hand, can provide a QR code that you can scan to make an in-person payment. To do so, open your PayPal app, tap "Scan/Pay," which brings up your camera, hold your camera up to the QR code, and let it capture the image before entering the amount due. Confirm the transaction and notify the merchant that it is finished. PayPal Me, a similar feature, allows businesses and customers to conduct peer-to-peer transactions via links.

Final Words

PayPal provides an almost dizzying array of payment tools for both consumers and merchants, and the feature list is likely to grow even longer in the future. I have listed the most suitable answer for “How To Pay With PayPal At Store?” here.
