Pay close attention to the network you select when depositing or withdrawing cryptocurrency from your Binance account. Sending your tokens to the incorrect blockchain is simple to do. So, we will let you know how to recover crypto sent to the wrong network in Binance. Let's see.

Identifying the sort of wallet you transferred your cryptocurrency to is crucial if you accidentally submitted it to the incorrect blockchain. Your wallet is non-custodial if you can access your private key or seed phrase. If not, custody of your wallet is assumed. With this knowledge, you can test one of our three suggestions.

If you've sent BEP-20 tokens across the Ethereum network or ERC-20 tokens (like ETH) using BNB Smart Chain (BSC), you should be able to retrieve them. Let's see the solutions.

Recovering from a wallet that supports BSC and Ethereum

Your tokens should be easy to find in a wallet that supports both blockchains. If you can't currently view your cryptocurrency, search for a toggle list of tokens for each network to enable.

For instance, MetaMask offers a [Add Token] button that enables you to view all of the coins it currently supports.

You'll need to enter the token contract for the coin's token if it isn't listed on the list. Step 5 of Recovering from a wallet that only supports BSC or Ethereum shows this procedure in action.

There are two ways to transfer your token back to the original blockchain: using Binance Bridge or manually.

Binance Bridge

Binance Bridge is a simple tool for converting your assets between blockchains. You just need to connect MetaMask or Binance Chain Wallet and choose what you want to transfer. Don't forget that you will need BNB for BSC gas fees or ETH for Ethereum gas fees.

Manually converting

Manually converting your tokens requires sending your cryptocurrency back to Binance. The deposit network in your Binance spot wallet must match the blockchain your token is currently on. Once it has arrived, you can send it correctly back to your external wallet.

In this example, we will convert Binance-Peg ETH (BEP-20) back into ERC-20 ETH. Make sure the wallet you are sending from has BNB for gas fees.

- On your Binance crypto deposit page, select ETH and the deposit network as BEP-20 (BSC). If you deposit to the wrong network, Binance will not be able to recover your funds.

- Once your ETH is back in your Binance account, convert it to ERC-20 by withdrawing it to an Ethereum-supporting wallet and selecting Ethereum (ETH) ERC20 as your transfer network. Your funds will now be safely on their way to the correct blockchain in your external wallet.

Recovering From A Wallet That Only Supports Either BSC Or Ethereum

To recover your tokens in this situation, you will need to import your wallet's private key into a new wallet that supports both blockchains. Depending on the importing wallet, you may also be able to use your seed phrase instead of your private key.

Importing a private key

When you import a wallet's private key into another wallet, you get access to the funds related to that private key, even when using a different wallet.

In other words, importing a wallet's private key will not send the funds to your importing wallet. It will just make the external wallet accessible from a different application. Note that custodial wallets will typically not have this option as they do not provide you with a private key.

The most commonly used wallets for doing this include Metamask, Trust Wallet, Math Wallet, SafePal, and TokenPocket.

This example will use the MetaMask Google Chrome extension and retrieve ETH that was accidentally sent to BSC.

Retrieving your funds

Access your MetaMask wallet or create a new one if you don't have one already. MetaMask is also available as both an app for iOS and Android.

If you are creating a new account, you will be given the option to import your old wallet's seed phrase.

If you already have an account, simply click the MetaMask extension pin, followed by your account profile at the top right.

Click [Import Account] and then input your wallet's private key with the missing crypto. Click [Import] to finalize. You can also upload a JSON file if you have one.

Next, you will need to add the BSC network to your MetaMask account manually. Click the MetaMask extension pin, followed by the network dropdown menu at the top middle. Click [Custom RPC] at the bottom of the list.

To allow MetaMask access to the BSC, you'll need to specify specifics like a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) URL. MetaMask may use this URL to access the Binance Smart Chain for information and to request transactions.

To do so, enter the following information in the appropriate areas and click “Save.”

Correctly add the contract token to your MetaMask Wallet. This will let your wallet look for the missing token if it supports BEP-20. Check out BscScan for a list of tokens and their corresponding contracts. By clicking on Binance-Peg Ethereum Token , you can view the contract token for ERC-20 ETH transferred to BSC (ETH).

Make sure you copy the proper contract token and take note of the decimal entry to move on to the next stage.

From the network drop-down option, select “BSC Mainnet.” After selecting “Add Token,” choose “Custom Token.”

Enter the Token Contract Address, the Token Symbol, and the Precision Decimals. Let's utilize ETH to show how this works in practice.

Token Contract Address: 0x2170ed0880ac9a755fd29b2688956bd959f933f8

Token Symbol: ETH

Decimals of Precision: 18

To confirm, click “Add Tokens.”

If everything is done successfully, you should be able to view your missing tokens. You can also transfer it back to your Binance account's BEP-20 wallet address. Furthermore, you have the option of converting it to ERC-20 utilizing the Binance Bridge or manually.

Recovering from a custodial wallet or exchange

The prospects of retrieving the assets are minimal in such a situation. For help, you'll need to contact your wallet provider or the exchange's customer support. Private keys may be provided by some Custodial wallet providers at no cost, while others may charge a fee. Once you have access to the private keys, you can import them into a wallet that is BSC-compatible. On the other hand, the majority of Custodial wallet providers might decline to give you access to their private keys. to do so in any way.

Closing thoughts

One of the most challenging aspects of taking your cryptocurrency out of Binance is picking the right transfer network. However, after you understand everything, you won't be transferring your BTC or ETH to the incorrect network anytime soon. With a standard wallet, your money is typically SAFU and retrievable with some effort.
