The newest and most popular cryptocurrency token is optimism. It will serve as the primary governance token for Optimism, the top Layer 2 network. Users, donors, DAO voters, and users of the top Layer 2 technology rivals are all receiving airdropped copies of OP .In this guide, you can expect to learn how to use Optimism MetaMask.

About Optimism

Ever before transaction costs on Ethereum began to soar, scaling has been the most contentious topic in the cryptocurrency community. In order to speed up transactions and lower fees, optimism is a Layer 2 network, a type of blockchain that is built on top of another blockchain (known as a Layer 1 network).

One of the most significant types is called a rollup, and it was developed by The Optimism Foundation, the group behind optimism. The vast bulk of transaction data and processing are removed from the Layer 1 chain by rollups. It may appear that this solution simply shifts the issue to a different, less reliable blockchain while sacrificing security and decentralization.

Rollups still continue to broadcast a modest amount of state information (transactions, account balances) to the more secure Layer 1 network for verification. If implemented properly, the rollup should be almost as secure as the Layer 1 chain.

Optimistic rollups, created by the Optimism Foundation, and ZK (zero-knowledge) rollups are two types of rollups. They operate mostly in the same way, except when validating transactions in the rollup, they employ various proofs. Optimistic rollups rely on network participle to submit fraud proofs in order to roll back fraudulent transactions because they believe that every transaction is legitimate. ZK rollups use intricate cryptographic proofs known as ZK proofs to individually verify each transaction.

ZK proofs are very quick and secure, but significantly more challenging to produce and particularly challenging to generalize. General-purpose optimistic rollups like Optimism will probably rule as the top Layer 2 rollup chains until ZK rollups can be developed.

How To Use Optimism Metamask?

We will demonstrate how to set up Optimism Metamask here.

Download the MetaMask plugin from the marketplace for browser extensions.

Create or import a MetaMask wallet.

If you already have a wallet, click import wallet.

Create a secure location for both your password and secret recovery phrase.

By selecting the Main Ethereum Network tab, we can change the connected blockchain, and then we need to add the Optimistic Ethereum network.

Enter the following information in the Optimistic Ethereum Mainnet settings:

Optimistic Ethereum Network RPC URL of Optimism Chain ID: 10

Ethereum (ETH)

Press Save.

Your Metamask Wallet is now connected to the Optimistic Ethereum mainnet! So, this is the complete guide to set up Optimism MetaMask. ETH, which can be bridged from the Ethereum mainnet, is needed for transactions on the Optimistic Ethereum network.
