When trying to understand blockchain technology, understanding how to verify NFT ownership is a crucial piece of the puzzle. So, how to verify NFT ownership? Let's see.
How to Verify NFT Ownership
Step 1. Go to Etherscan io and enter a wallet address
Enter a public wallet address, transaction hash, block, or token at Etherscan to get started. address.
Note that you can just as easily enter someone else's wallet address and find the same information.
Step 2. Choose the desired NFT that you want to verify.
Select the dropdown arrow and the token transactions you want to view to view a specific NFT's transaction data.
You will then be directed to your wallet's history record of transactions for the particular coin type you selected to see.
Step 3. Select a transaction (Txn) hash to view
There can be several transactions to choose from, depending on how many tokens you have accessible in your wallet.
Choose the transaction that you want to look at and verify. To access all of the details of a transaction, just click the Txn Hash.
Step 4. Look at the NFT's 'Status' and 'Tokens Transferred' to verify ownership
This page, which shows all the NFT transaction details, will be brought up after you've chosen the NFT transaction you want to confirm.
These details include but are not limited to:
- Transaction Hash (A unique 66-character identifier given to each token)
- Status (Success or failed)
- Block (Block confirmation)
- Timestamp (Date and time)
-From (Sending address)
- Interacted With (To/receiving address)
- Transaction Action (Mint quantity and receiver)
- Tokens Transferred (From and to)
- Value (Current value and at the time of purchase if you click)
- Transaction Fee (Gas fee)
- Gas Price (Cost per unit of gas spent on the transaction)
- Ether Price (On the date of transaction)
- Gas Limit (Maximum amount of gas provided for the transaction)
- Gas Used by Transaction (The exact amount of gas used for the transaction)
- Nonce (Sequential running number for an address, beginning with 0 for the first transaction)
-Input Data (Additional info required for the transaction)
You can see who currently owns the NFT by looking at the "Tokens Transferred From and To" section. The current owner of the NFT in question is shown by the address displayed after "To."
Can You Fake NFT Ownership?
You cannot pretend to have an NFT. An NFT's full transaction history is permanently stored on the blockchain and visible to anyone. As a result, you can quickly check the blockchain to confirm who actually owns an NFT if someone claims to do so.
That's not to say that you can't screenshot an NFT—because you can. But it's utterly useless since you'd get nothing out of it.
That would be similar to me taking a photo of your car and claiming to be the owner. It doesn't mean I have the keys to it or that I can get in and drive it away just because I have a photo of it. The same goes for NFT ownership.
You can add a number of utilities to an NFT, but you can only use them if you are the real owner of the token. So, there really is no way to fake owning an NFT.
