The launch of Aptos is finally here. According to the rumors, Aptos is currently regarded as the SOLANA killer. Well if you do not know about Aptos, let's find out by reading the article below.

What is Aptos?

Aptos also known as Aptos Labs is a web3 startup focused on building scalable layer-1 blockchains. I know what you're thinking, not yet another new smart contract layer that claims to be more scalable than others.

The Aptos blockchain is generating all this hype because of its interesting past. The blockchain is based on the recently abandoned Diem blockchain initiative (from Meta). Aptos encryption was created by Diem developers and will use the programming language originally created for Diem. It will remain focused on Diem's original goal of creating a scalable, fast blockchain. Additionally, it hopes to provide additional functionality that will make it easier for ordinary users to use cryptocurrencies.

Who developed Aptos?

Aptos Labs was founded by Mo Shaikh (pictured) and Avery Ching. It uses Diem's programming language Move, which aims to make transactions cheaper and more efficient. In February, Aptos made an announcement and announced their first $200 million fundraiser. The developer testnet peaked at 20,000 full active nodes when it launched in March 2022. In late May 2022, Aptos launched its incentivized testnet, electing 100 validators from over 30,000 commits. In June, Aptos launched its Ecosystem Grants program.

Is Aptos Solana killer?

With the secret sauce inside Meta, and its mission to provide "the most secure and scalable Layer 1 blockchain," Aptos today launched its mainnet, a four-year technology development and a $1 billion valuation 's climax.

Dubbed by many as a potential "Solana killer," Aptos is the latest high-profile effort to create the perfect blockchain for smart contracts, the code that powers the vast world of NFTs, DAOs, and DeFi. While ethereum has made huge leaps since the merger, challengers like Solana are entering with faster transaction speeds although occasional disruptions also open doors for new players like Aptos.

What makes Aptos standout?

One of the things that makes Aptos crypto so appealing is Move, a custom programming language originally designed for the Diem blockchain. Move is an executable bytecode language. It's flexible enough to meet the unique needs of Aptos developers, and its global storage is more secure than typical programming languages. Move allows users to define custom resources that cannot be copied or discarded, making the Aptos blockchain more difficult for malicious entities to control and hack.

According to tests, Aptos team claims that Aptos can transfer up to 130,000 transactions per second.

I hope now you will understand whether Aptos Solana is the killer and who developed Aptos. Time will tell if Aptos' transaction execution method will prove to be a panacea, or if it will attract a large enough community of blockchain developers to build on it and its proprietary language.
