Clearstream, a subsidiary of Deutsche Börse Group, is a prominent provider of post-trading services in the global financial markets. Established in 2000 through the merger of Cedel International and Deutsche Börse Clearing, Clearstream offers settlement and custody services for both domestic and international securities. It operates central securities depositories (CSDs) in Germany and Luxembourg, as well as an international central securities depository (ICSD) for Eurobonds. D7 aims to digitize the entire post-trade value chain, enhancing market efficiency and liquidity. The platform has seen rapid adoption, with up to 15.000 new digital issuances added weekly. Clearstream has called for a transitional solution following European Central Bank (ECB) trials, advocating for the development of a stable long-term solution to advance a competitive digital financial ecosystem in Europe.

How is Clearstream Investing in Digital Vault Services?

In April 2024. Clearstream announced its intention to acquire a minority stake in Digital Vault Services (DVS), a fintech company specializing in issuing and safeguarding digital bank guarantees across Europe. This strategic aims to modernize trade finance processes and integrate DVS's Guarantee Vault with Clearstream's D7 platform, expanding its digital asset product portfolio beyond securities.
