Monero mining is one of the easiest ways to earn cryptocurrency, and you can do it with a device you already own. It is essential to pay attention to certain aspects of mining, but we have researched everything there is to know and have created a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to mine monero.

The good news about XMR mining is that it can be done on any standard computer. Monero mining does not require ASICs. To become a miner, you will need to use monero mining software.

What is monero?

Launched in 2014, monero (XMR) is an open-source cryptocurrency that received recognition for its high anonymity, and has a total supply of 18 million XMR.

Different ways to mine monero

When it comes to monero mining, you have a few options. You can mine XRM by solo, join a monero mining pool, or use cloud mining services.

How to mine monero and make a profit?

You can begin immediately by using the CPU or GPU of your device. In order to make profit, you will need high-hash-rate equipment.

CPU mining

The most common way to begin monero mining is to use your device's CPU. You can also buy a mining-specific CPU.

Step by step guide to how to mine monero

Step 1: Get a monero wallet

You must first download, install, and setup a crypto wallet, one of the supported monero wallets. For this part, you can use any wallet that supports Monero.

If you want to stake your XMR further, you can use a wallet on a crypto exchange that supports monero,. Setting up a wallet on a cryptocurrency exchange is relatively simple, but keep in mind that most exchanges require you to complete KYC as part of the sign-up process.

Step 2: Mining software

XMRig is a well-known monero mining software. Download the software from its website. The zip files must be extracted.

On Windows, you will see a warning that the mining software may activate the antivirus software. To prevent the system from removing the file, you must add an exception for the software.

Step 3: Window Security exclusion

On Windows, go to Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection > Virus & Threat Protection Settings > Manage Setting > Exclusions to add an exception for the monero mining software.

Click the "Add or Remove Exclusions" button. Then click "Add an exclusion." Include an exclusion for the entire folder. Choose "Folder" and navigate to the folder where you unzipped the monero mining software. Windows will prompt you to accept the security warning.

You can now see the new exclusion for Windows Security.

You will also need to unblock the mining software in order to run it later. Right-click on the mining software to do so.

Check the "Unblock" box under Security and then click "Apply."

The software must then be configured to be linked to your wallet and mining pool. This can be accomplished by editing the file "config . json."

Step 4: Choosing a monero mining pool

You must first choose a mining pool or mine on your own before creating the configuration file. As a solo miner, you are unlikely to have enough CPU to earn profitable rewards, which is why most miners join a mining pool.

Step 5: Generate the config . json file

You can generate the file needed for the monero mining software on XMRig.

Go to “Wizard” > “+New Configuration” > “+Add Pool” (add the chosen mining pool) > “Add a Monero wallet address”, and enter the wallet address you created in Step 1. Go to MyMonero wallet, copy the public address, and paste it here. Click “+Add pool.” You will see your pool added.

Go to the next step of the wizard, which is “Backends.” Select the CPU option.

The next step is “Misc,” where you choose the percentage you want to donate to XMRig for writing the software.

Then, in the folder you unzipped earlier, click on the "Result" tab to see and download the config file, and then download this config file and use it to replace the default file that came with the software.

Now, you have the configuration file, the wallet, the mining pool, and are ready to run the monero mining software.

Run the software as administrator. It may take a few moments to connect to the mining pool.

After connecting to the mining pool, press the "H" key on your keyboard to see your current hash rate. Now, let's make sure you're communicating with your chosen mining pool.

To view payment history, go to the pool's website and paste your Monero wallet address.

If you see something there, it means your device is communicating with the Monero mining pool.

Remember that pools have minimum payout balances. Allow your device to do the work now and wait for the XMR rewards. Once the pool sends the first payout, you will see your rewards in your wallet.

GPU mining

You can mine monero using your computer's GPU. Some miners prefer GPU mining to CPU mining because a computer can only support two CPUs but up to 19 GPUs. GPUs offer significantly higher hash rates when working together.

Gamers are more likely to use GPU mining because they already own a powerful GPU.

The first four steps for GPU mining are identical to those for CPU mining. Please complete the steps before proceeding to the steps below.

Step 5: Generating the config .json file for XMRig

On the XMRig website, you can generate the file required for the Monero mining software. Enter to "Wizard" > "+New Configuration" > "+Add Pool" (add the mining pool of choice) > "Add a Monero wallet address. "

You must enter the wallet address here. Copy the public address from your wallet and paste it here. Select "+Add pool." Your pool will be added.

Continue to the wizard's next step, "Backends." Choose the appropriate GPU option for your GPU (AMD or NVIDIA).

The next step is "Misc," where you can clarify how much money you want to give to XMRig in return for writing the software.

Then, select the "Result" tab to view and download the config file.

Download this config file and replace it in the folder you unzipped earlier with the default file that came with the software.

Now that you have the configuration file, the wallet, and the mining pool, you can run the monero mining software.

Run the software as administrator. Connecting to the mining pool may take a few seconds.

After connecting to the mining pool, press the "H" key on your keyboard to see your current hash rate. Now, let's make sure you're communicating with your chosen mining pool.

To view payment history, go to the pool's website and paste your monero wallet address.
