On the Internet, the deep web is not indexed by web crawlers, while the dark web is intentionally hidden. Today we will talk about the comparison between Dark Web VS Deep Web and how big is Dark Web. Let’s find out by reading the article below.

The comparison between Dark Web VS Deep Web?

The terms dark web and deep web are considered to be associated with illegal and other suspicious activities; however, there is a huge difference between the two.

Deep Web

- The deep web is the part of the internet that is hidden from view by traditional search engines.

- To access it, you need a password, encryption or special software.

- It is larger than the surface net.

- They are generally used for legitimate purposes that require anonymity.

- It includes all non-indexed pages.

- You can access it using a VPN.

Dark Web

- The dark web is a subset of the deep web that is intentionally hidden.

- To access it, you'll need the Tor Project or a similar browser.

- It is a subset of the deep web, but its size is immeasurable.

- Sometimes used for illegal activities.

- It only includes a subset of non-indexed web pages in the deep web.

- Accessing this data requires many precautions.

How big is dark web?

Technically, the darknet is a part of the deep web. However, there is no real way to measure the true breadth and depth of the dark web. Some experts put the size of the dark web at around 5% of all content on the internet.

How big is deep web?

Due to its public nature, it is easier to accurately estimate the size of deep networks.

There are over 200,000 websites on the Deep Web. The amount of public data on the deep web is 400 to 500 times that of the surface web.

The deep web hosts approximately 7,500 TB of data, while the surface web hosts approximately 19 TB. There are 550 billion personal documents hosted on the deep web, compared to 1 billion on the surface web. The deep web receives on average 50% more traffic per month than the surface web.

I hope now you will understand the comparison between Dark Web VS Deep Web and how big is Dark Web. The dark web has many legitimate uses, but remains a home for all kinds of criminal activity. Instead, the deep web is a regular part of nearly every internet user's online experience.
