This article will show you the banks with no overdraft fees. Overdraft protection has always been associated with high fees, but many banks are now providing this service in a way that benefits consumers.

What Are Banks With No Overdraft Fees?

Many banks provide overdraft protection, a service that covers overdrafts from your checking account to help you avoid having your transactions refused. To put it another way, even if you don't have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, your overdraft protection will still enable it to happen, and you'll need to add more funds. So, here are the best banks with no overdraft fees:

SoFi

There are no account or overdraft fees at SoFi. The SoFi online bank account is a solid choice in general for a number of reasons. First off, you can easily organize the money because this account combines a checking and a savings account. Your checking account pays 1.20% APY, while your savings account pays 4.00% APY. Additionally, using your SoFi debit card at nearby shops will earn you 15% cash back.

Alliance Account Union

Anyone who favors a credit union over a bank should strongly consider Alliant Credit Union. With just $25, you can start a bank account. After then, there will be no monthly fees or minimum balance criteria for you to meet. It also has zero overdraft fees.

Does An Overdraft Hurt Your Credit?

Overdrafting your bank account typically has no negative effects on your credit. Your credit might be impacted indirectly in a number of ways, though.

First, the bank might eventually transfer the remaining money to a collections agency if you don't pay back your overdraft. Your credit would be harmed by the debt appearing on your credit report. And even if you pay the debt off right away after it is sent over to collections, it will probably still show up on your credit record for up to seven years.

If other expenses don't get paid as a result of an overdraft, that might further damage your credit. Let's imagine you have exceeded your bank's overdraft protection limit, in which case all transactions will be rejected until you replenish the money. card bill is due during that time, but you are unable to pay it. Your credit record can include a missed or late credit card payment.

Summary

Expensive overdraft fees have been dropped by an increasing number of banks and credit unions in recent years. And those are the banks with no overdraft fees.
