Reddit is giving its most devoted users free Polygon NFT avatars.
A free "Collectible Avatar" NFT minted on Polygon may be available to those who have accumulated sufficient karma. Reddit, an online discussion forum, is airdropping free NFTs to some of its most popular users. The Polygon-based "Collectible Avatars" were introduced by Reddit last month, and the site also sells them.
Reddit, a well-known platform for online debate, is putting more emphasis on blockchain technology and recently declared that it would introduce a line of NFT avatars based on its Snoo character. Reddit is now giving some of the tokenized avatars away to its most devoted members in addition to selling some of them.
Reddit recently made the announcement that individuals with a significant quantity of karma points—a score that symbolizes their contributions to Reddit communities—would receive free NFT avatars through airdrop. According to the post, the NFTs will be given out on a user-by-user basis and are not restricted to certain discussion areas.
The "Collectible Avatars" that Reddit uses as its NFTs are created on Polygon, an Ethereum scaling network that makes transactions more affordable, quick, and energy-efficient than on Ethereum's mainnet. Free avatars in the Aww Friends, Drip Squad, Meme Team, and The Singularity styles are available on Reddit.
In addition to the free airdrop, Reddit also offers NFT avatars for sale on its own website. Depending on the selection, they cost anywhere between $9.99 to $99.99 each.
An NFT is a blockchain token that denotes ownership of an item, such as artwork, collectibles, video game goods, and avatar profile images. An airdrop, on the other hand, is a method by which tokens are distributed to particular cryptocurrency wallets, generally as a reward for utilizing a particular protocol, owning an NFT, or meeting other predetermined conditions.
Prior to now, Reddit had published a small number of Ethereum-based CryptoSnoos NFTs, and they had advertised them using the NFT moniker. In June 2021, only four NFTs in total were released in the project, with one selling for 175 ETH at auction, or more than $398,000 at the time. Later, in February, that NFT was resold for just 42 ETH, or around $117,000 at the time.
The tokenized Community Points may be utilized in other Web3 applications, and Reddit intends to roll them out to a lot more of its communities in the future. The crypto reward tokens are currently only available in two communities, r/CryptoCurrency and r/FortNiteBR, and are referred to as Moons and Bricks, respectively.
