Symbiosis is a DeFi protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain that unlocks new possibilities for Lido's stETH ( staked ETH). Lido is a leading liquid staking solution that allows users to earn rewards on their ETH holdings without needing to run validator nodes themselves. However, stETH's utility within DeFi has been limited due to its incompatibility with certain protocols. Symbiosis aims to bridge this gap.

How Does Symbiosis Work with Lido's stETH?

Symbiosis addresses the limitations of stETH by introducing a novel concept called "omni-staking." Here's a breakdown of the process:

Depositing stETH: Users deposit their stETH into Symbiosis' smart contracts.

veSTETH Conversion: The deposited stETH is converted into veSTETH, a tokenized representation that tracks the user's stake in Symbiosis. veSTETH holders continue to earn rewards from Lido on their underlying ETH.

Re-staking veSTETH: Users can then utilize their veSTETH across various DeFi protocols that are integrated with Symbiosis. Currently, Symbiosis allows re-staking for ETH 2.0 rewards on protocols beyond Lido.

What are the Advantages of Using Symbiosis with stETH?

Symbiosis offers several advantages to users seeking to maximize the utility of their stETH:

Enhanced DeFi Usability: Symbiosis unlocks stETH's potential for participation in a wider range of DeFi applications, boosting its overall usefulness within the DeFi ecosystem.

Earn Multiple Rewards: By re-staking veSTETH, users can potentially earn additional rewards on top of the staking rewards generated by Lido on their stETH.

Maintains Liquidity: Symbiosis allows users to maintain liquidity through veSTETH, as it can be readily swapped back for stETH whenever needed.

What is the Future for Symbiosis and stETH?

Symbiosis is a significant development for Lido's stETH, enabling users to leverage it for a broader range of DeFi activities. As Symbiosis integrates with more protocols, the value proposition of stETH is likely to increase, potentially making it a more fungible and versatile DeFi asset.
