If you want to know "What is a BTC address?" and "how do you make transactions with a Bitcoin address?", you are at the right place.

What is a BTC address?

A Bitcoin address is a unique identifier that acts as a virtual location where cryptocurrencies are sent. Just like fiat currency can be sent to email addresses, the virtual currency can be sent to Bitcoin addresses.

However, Bitcoin addresses are not permanent and are only tokens for use in a single transaction. Unlike digital wallets, Bitcoin addresses cannot hold funds. The address itself consists of 26-35 alphanumeric characters. This string is the public half of the asymmetric key pair .

The standard format for Bitcoin addresses is P2PKH (Pay to Public Key Hash). A digital wallet or bitcoin client generates addresses through cryptographic operations. The software uses an asymmetric signature algorithm to generate a private key and derive a public key from the private key. A user signs with a private key and verifies this signature with a public key.

When Bitcoin first started, people were able to send currency to IP addresses. While this was a convenient method for users, it soon became apparent that it was also useful for people launching man-in-the-middle attacks. This method has been deprecated and Bitcoin addresses were developed as a more secure alternative.

Most other cryptocurrencies use similar technology to send money. A Bitcoin address is a type of blockchain address.

How do you make transactions with a Bitcoin address?

First, you'll need to provide this address to people every time they need to send a payment via Bitcoin, so it's a good idea to keep it easily accessible.

As an example of what a Bitcoin address looks like, the Bitcoin Foundation accepts donations: 3Mrdyvm4Dnc4Dii4xDpEtbTsQTEUbZiQQs. To send any amount of bitcoins directly to such an address, you need to copy it to the "send" section of your wallet software.

Once you have filled in all the other fields, including the transaction amount, you can start the process from your side. In this way, we have successfully transferred a certain amount of bitcoins from a wallet using only the recipient's address.

Bitcoin addresses are generally too long for most people to remember, so QR codes have become a relatively popular way to share them. Long strings of alphanumeric characters may seem daunting to those unfamiliar with Bitcoin, but presenting the same in barcode form can help you better understand how the system works.

In fact, considering how easy it is to commit an error while manually entering a bitcoin address, this method is almost universally preferred.

I hope you will improve your knowledge about "What is a BTC address?" and "how do you make transactions with a Bitcoin address?", after reading this article.
