DeFi protocol Aave is one of the largest cryptocurrency lenders. So what is Aave and how it works? The market cap of the AAVE token is higher than that of competitors Maker or Compound. This article will explain what is Aave and how it works.

What is Aave?

Aave is a decentralized money market protocol that enables users to lend and borrow cryptocurrencies in a trustless manner. With multiple cryptocurrencies to choose from, Aave offers its users stable and variable interest rates.

Based on the Ethereum network, Aave is one of the largest currency markets in the DeFi space and crypto market. The Aave protocol consists of liquidity pools where users can lend or borrow any supported altcoins and stablecoins.

Aave runs on the Ethereum blockchain, but is a smart contract system that enables these assets to be managed by a distributed network of computers running its software.

The Aave Lending Platform is the leading protocol where borrowers and lenders can form money markets without the need for third parties or custodians. As the DeFi industry has grown and demand has grown, Aave has become an integral part of the industry. The Aave protocol is governed by AAVE holders.

How does it work?

The newly improved Aave is similar in concept to ETHLend. Both allow Ethereum users to obtain cryptocurrency loans or earn returns by lending their assets. However, in essence, they are different.

To facilitate this activity, Aave issued two types of tokens: tokens, which are issued to lenders so that they can charge interest on deposits, and AAVE Tokens, which are Aave's native tokens.

Aave loans are over-collateralized, which means users need to make deposits in the form of collateral worth more than the borrowed amount. If the borrowed asset is not returned within a given time frame, the collateral will be collected by the lender. The cryptocurrency The market is highly volatile, so Aave employs a liquidation process in case the value of the collateral falls below the collateral rate defined and determined by the Aave protocol.

Summary

Hopefully, you will now understand what is Aave and how it works. Aave is an indispensable player in the decentralized finance space. The project is rapidly gaining value with new and unique features such as flash loans and liquidity mining for stablecoins and DeFi tokens.
