In the wake of BlockFi's bankruptcy filing in November 2022, many users were left uncertain about the fate of their cryptocurrency holdings held on the platform. After months of legal proceedings and restructuring efforts, BlockFi finally received court approval to resume withdrawals for eligible US-based withdrawals withdrawal users in July 2023. However, the withdrawal process remains complex and subject to specific criteria, leaving many users with questions and concerns.

Let's take a closer look at this article for a better understanding.

The ability to withdraw funds from BlockFi depends on your residency and the type of account you hold. Currently, only US-based customers with BlockFi Wallet accounts are eligible for withdrawals. International clients and those with Interest-Bearing Accounts (BIA) will need to wait for further guidance from the bankruptcy court.

What Assets Can I Withdraw?

Eligible users can withdraw cryptocurrencies held in their BlockFi Wallet accounts. However, cash withdrawals are currently not supported. This means that you will need to transfer your cryptocurrencies to an external wallet before you can convert them back into fiat currency.

How Do I Initiate a Withdrawal?

To initiate a withdrawal, log in to your BlockFi account and navigate to the "Withdraw" section. Select the cryptocurrency you wish to withdraw and enter the amount and the destination wallet address. Once you have reviewed the withdrawal details, confirm the transaction.

Is There a Withdrawal Fee?

BlockFi does not charge any withdrawal fees for cryptocurrency withdrawals. However, you may need to pay network fees depending on the cryptocurrency you are withdrawing.

What is the Withdrawal Processing Time?

Due to the high volume of withdrawal requests and the complexities related to the bankruptcy proceedings, withdrawal processing times may vary. Some users have reported waiting up to 90 days for their withdrawals to be completed.

Conclusion

The BlockFi withdrawal process is a complex and evolving situation. While eligible US-based users can now withdraw their cryptocurrencies, international clients and those with BIA accounts remain in limbo. It is important to stay informed about the latest developments and to exercise patience as the bankruptcy proceedings unfold.
