The current, established identity systems are fragmented, unsafe, and exclusionary. With important advantages for businesses, users, and IoT management systems, blockchain offers more secure management and storage of digital identities by offering a uniform, interoperable, and of architec , what is digital identity?

A healthy society and economy depend on identity. We can build healthy societies and international markets when we have a good way to identify ourselves and our possessions. Identity is essentially a group of assertions about have a person, location, or thing pe. easy access to physical forms of identification for a variety of reasons. Worldwide, 1.1 billion people lack a means of claiming ownership of their identity.

What Is Digital Identity?

A digital identity develops naturally as a result of how personal information is used online and the shadow data that the user's online activities produce. A pseudonymous profile connected to the device's IP address, for instance, or a uniquely created ID are examples of digital identities. Usernames and passwords, driver's license number, online purchase history, date of birth, online search behavior, medical history, and other data points can all be used to assist create a digital identity. Three modalities—biometric, behavioral, and biological—combine to form a person's identity.

How Does A Digital Identity Work?

By combining the following elements, blockchain technology enables users to construct and manage digital identities:

- Identity management;

- Decentralized identifiers;

-Embedded encryption

In one instance, users generate and register a DID by signing up for a self-sovereign identity and data platform. The user generates a set of private and public keys throughout this process. In the event that private keys are lost, stolen, or rotated For security purposes, the public keys associated with a DID can be stored on-chain. To maintain scalability and adhere to privacy laws, the full data should not be stored on-chain. However, additional data related to a DID, such as attestations , can be anchored there.

Cryptography is a crucial component of protecting decentralized identities. Private keys used in cryptography are exclusively known by their owner, whereas public keys are shared widely. This pairing fulfills two objectives. from a holder of the paired private key. The second is encryption, where a message encrypted with a public key can only be decrypted by the owner of the paired private key.

Summary

I have explained most facts about “What Is Digital Identity?” Users can use the verified identifier, which takes the form of a QR code, to prove their identity once it has been paired with a decentralized identity and gain access to particular services.
